The existing site was content-heavy and difficult to navigate, making it harder for both new and returning visitors to quickly access critical information. The opportunity was to create a clearer, more inspiring and more flexible platform that could balance promotional storytelling with essential real-time updates.
Through stakeholder workshops and discovery, we centred the experience around the real needs of Hotham’s audiences — from first-time planners seeking inspiration to seasoned visitors checking weather, road conditions and lift information on the go.
We developed a flexible content system and rationalised the sitemap to create a clearer, more scalable information architecture. The new structure supports both depth and speed, helping users move seamlessly from dreaming about their trip to confidently planning it.
Visually, the design introduces a refined seasonal framework. Using colour theory and tonal shifts, the site adapts between winter and summer modes, reflecting the changing character of the mountain while maintaining brand consistency year-round. A simple seasonal switch allows users to toggle between winter and summer experiences at any time.
To support high-priority visitor needs, we designed a convenient floating panel that surfaces live weather and road conditions wherever users are on the site. Alongside this, custom components, including an upcoming events calendar and dynamic seasonal states, ensure the platform stays responsive to the rhythms of the mountain.
The result is a digital experience that works as hard as the mountain does — delivering clarity in moments that matter while creating a more engaging and contemporary brand presence.
