Investing in our own projects makes us a better design studio. We know what it’s like to invest in something that may or may not work. As a result, our methods are more commercially conscious, our processes leaner and our advice more grounded in reality.
We look for tiny opportunties to create something new and interesting. We only tackle things that can be be launched within a month with the resources we have within the studio.
We design the bare minimum, prototype / launch, see if people like it and then decide if it’s worth persuing. We resist the urge to over engineer it and intentionally leave users asking for more.
We naturally gravitate towards ideas that support creative industries so it’s no suprise our first venture has been designed to promote local artists.
We created a calendar of exhibitions to support local galleries and artists
We came up with the idea of ArtCal during the COVID-19 lockdown. The idea is to offer a place for medium-sized galleries to post their exhibitions and for users to find the best local artists. We want to see people return to galleries after this period of isolation. We want them to return so that they might buy art and support local artists. We live with art in our own homes and it’s a privilege. We hope more Australians get to live with art too.
For now, this service is completely free. We know there is more work to do and more features to create but we’re hoping you’ll tell us what you want to see next. We don’t know what ArtCal is going to look like in twelve months but we’re here to enjoy the show.
So follow us and tell your friends. We hope that this project prompts you to visit a gallery that you haven’t visited before and even buy that special piece of art that means something to you. Thank you.
